I think that Harper Lee does this because after the trial the children realise that the town is racist because they know that Tom Robinson is not guilty and then Dill had to leave cause he didn’t like they way Gilmur treated Tom Robinson After Dill said he was going to join the circus because all that he could do is laugh at people.
